BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently sat down for an interview with Zane Lowe to discuss her latest solo project, “Ruby.” During the conversation, she shared the deeper meanings behind each track, including the emotional song “Twin,” which Zane described as deeply personal.

Zane, who had already listened to “Twin” before its release, pointed out that the song felt like a heartfelt letter rather than just a collection of emotions. He remarked, “The song is about someone, for sure. You aren’t writing that song cherry-picking emotions. That’s a letter.” Hearing this, Jennie was surprised at how accurately he had interpreted it, responding, “Wow, you saw right through me.”

She admitted that “Twin” is one of her most personal songs but ultimately decided to share it with the world in hopes that others could resonate with its emotions. “That song is a very special song for me, maybe the most personal song. But by the time we were done with the song, I read it back and I was like, ‘Okay, people can resonate with this.’ There’s got to be someone that makes everyone feel this way.”

According to Jennie, writing the song also gave her closure on the relationship. “I think being truthful on that song gave me a conclusion, a clear thought on how I felt on that relationship. There you go, that says it all. I’m writing my letter to you,” the female idol said.

Additionally, Jennie revealed that “Twin” also gave her closure to a past relationship. As this is an extremely rare remark about the female idol’s private life, it immediately drew attention. Many suspect that Jennie was talking about her rumored romance with BTS’ V, and this revelation basically confirmed the end of that relationship, especially as rumors of V and Jennie still dating just emerged recently. Of course, these are mere speculations, and should not be taken seriously.

Aside from her solo music, Jennie also opened up about BLACKPINK and the uncertainty that fans have felt due to recent changes. She acknowledged, “When many changes happen with BLACKPINK, I think fans may feel confused and lost. But when we return as BLACKPINK, I hope we can rebuild the connection that might have felt uncertain. As long as all four of us love each other, there’s no reason to see us as separate.”
